For many years, he taught school in Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. He owned several small businesses along the way, the last being a shoe store in McMinnville.
Edwin was a member of Central Church of Christ, a master mason and a member of the Scottish Rite for over 50 years. Edwin was a man of many varied interests. Music was a large part of his life and he played the violin, mandolin and guitar for family and friends for many years. He played with a small band that performed at various venues in the area. When he wasn't playing music, he could be found enjoying life in his garden, reading, fishing or woodworking. His optimism and contentment with life defined his personality, and he was known to greet the day with "Hello World".
