ATNIP, Don Roy - McMinnville resident and Warren County native Don Roy Atnip died January 29, 2012 at Stones River Hospital in Woodbury, TN following a sudden illness.  A self-employed heavy equipment operator and member of the Baptist Church, he was the son of the late General Thomas and Katie Margaret Griffin Atnip.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Jr. Atnip.  He is survived by one daughter, Lynn Martin of Spencer, TN;  three grandchildren, Cassie Hodge, Amanda Martin and Freddie Martin and three great-grandchildren, Liberty Hodge, Antha Lynn Hodge and Nevaeh Martin.  Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2012 in High's Chapel with Charlie Heaph officiating.  Burial followed in the Providence Cemetery.

BECKWITH, Virginia West - McMinnville resident and Warren County native Virginia West Beckwith, age 78, was born July 27, 1934 and died January 6, 2012 at NHC Healthcare McMinnville following an extended illness.  A library aid with Warren County School System and member of First Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Hester L. and Daisy Cantrell West.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, I.D. West;  sister, Willie Mae "Bill" Cates and great-grandson, Dax.  She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Tom and Camille Beckwith of Murfreesboro, TN and Ken Beckwith of McMinnville;  four grandchildren and one great-grandchild;  two sister, Mary Curtis and Helen Martin both of McMinnville;  two brothers and sister-in-law, Luther and Betty West of McMinnville and Tom West of Huntsville, AL and several nieces and nephews.  Per Virginia's request, her body was donated to forensic science and no service are scheduled.  Memorial contributions may be made to Project Rescue, 179 Cave Springs Rd., Decatur, AL  35603.

BELL, JR., Mark E. "Brother" - Rock Island, TN resident and Warren County native Mark E. "Brother" Bell, Jr., age 72, was born May 1, 1939 and died February 8, 2012 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness.  A retired employee of Tri-Tech Molding and member of the First United Methodist Church, he was the son of the late Mark E. and Elizabeth Bandy Bell, Sr.  He is survived by one brother, Max O. Bell of Rock Island, TN and daughter, Elizabeth Ann Bell of Chattanooga, TN.  A graveside service and interment was held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Mt. View Cemetery with Bob Case and Larry Stanley officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church c/o High's.

BOULDIN, Geraldine "Gerri" - McMinnville resident and Warren County native Geraldine "Gerri" Bouldin was born December 24, 1945 and died February 1, 2012 following a seven-year battle with cancer.  A retired employee of Rogers Group, Inc. and member of the Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Edna Curtis.  In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Martin, Sr.;  aunt, Jessie Ruth Gillentine of Michigan and uncle, Woodrow Martin of McMinnville.  She is survived by one daughter, Monty Bouldin White of Virginia and a son, Kenny Bouldin of McMinnville.  She had five grandsons and one great-granddaughter.  She is also survived by two aunts, Martha Martin of West Virginia and Lorene Hillis of McMinnville;  two uncles, Sam Martin, Jr. and Leon Gillentine both of McMinnville and one niece, Julie Curtis Britten of England.  Geraldine was supported and loved by her many friends at Rogers Group.  Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2012 in High's Chapel with Ray Weddington and David Grissom officiating.  Interment followed at Gardens of Memory.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society

CARR, Mary Ruth Hillis - McMinnville resident and Warren County native Mary Ruth Hillis Carr, age 83, was born November 10, 1928 and died January 25, 2012 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness.  A retired employee of Magnetek, she was the daughter of the late Oliver E. and Fluellar Russell Hillis.  Mrs. Carr was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.  She was married to Oscar Brown Carr who preceded her in death in 1978.  She is survived by seven children and their spouses, Bobby and Pat Carr of Huntsville, AL, Margaret and Jim Self of Maryville, TN, Gene and Bea Carr of Hayti, SD, Frank and Margaret Carr, Darlene and Larry Vance and Chuby Carr and Donnie Prater all of McMinnville and Larry and Melissa Carr of San Antonio, TX;  several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  A graveside service and interment was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Riverside Cemetery with Scotty Lawson officiating.

Chisam, age 89, was born June 3, 1922 and died January 26, 2012 at St. Luke Lutheran Home in North Canton, OH following an extended illness.  A retired employee of Stride Rite Shoe Corporation and member of the North Canton Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Edith Lewis Cupp.  She was married to James Chisam who preceded her in death in 1991.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Donald Tracy.  She is survived by two grandchildren and their spouses, Monica and Don Gregoire of Canton, OH and Christopher and Melanie Tracy of Pickerington, OH;  four great-grandchildren, Jessica, Hannah, Adam and Madison and daughter-in-law, Carmen Tracy of Canal Winchester, OH.  Burial was at Mt. CHRISTIAN, Mary Betty - McMinnville resident and Warren County native Mary Betty Christian, age 89, was born August 24, 1922 and died January 5, 2012 at Raintree Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness.  A homemaker and member of the Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Emmitt and Marilda Curtis.  She was married December 16, 1939 to Ray Wallace Christian who preceded her in death April 3, 2002.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Leoma Clendenon and Ollie Mae Walker.  She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Ralph Brock and Gail and Joe Bell both of McMinnville;  four grandchildren and their spouses, Trina and Tim Fariss, Tyson and Angela Brock, Trey Bell and fiancée, Kari Neal and her son Gavon and Tiffany and Brent Keeton all of McMinnville;  six great-grandchildren, Brock Farris, Brayden Farris, Allison Brock, Hunter Brock, Brennan Keeton and Madeline Keeton;  two sisters, Daphene Coppinger and Lois Grove both of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012 in High's Chapel with Jonathan Stubblefield and Kevin Key officaiting.  Burial followed in the Hills Creek Cemetery.

CLENDENON, Barbara Jean Chastain - McMinnville resident and Warren County native Barbara Jean Chastain Clendenon, age 75, was born August 14, 1936 and died January 13, 2012 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN following a sudden illness.  A retired secretary with Sun Finance and member of the Shellsford Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Frank B. and Delia Higgenbotham Chastain.  She was married to Thomas E. Clendenon of McMinnville.  In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Kathy Clendenon and Ricky Clendenon both of McMinnville;  sister and brother-in-law, Dean and Eugene Langford of McMinnville;  two nieces, Debi Jones and Denise Layne both of McMinnville;  two nephews, Danny Langford and Darren Langford both of McMinnville;  two sisters-in-law, Gerry Martin and Agnes Evans both of McMinnville and special friends, Preston and Gloria Grissom, David and Jacqueline Hitchcock and Grant and Ethan Hitchcock all of McMinnville.  Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2012 in High's Chapel with Jimmy Bond officiating.  Burial followed in the Shellsford Cemetery.

DAVENPORT, Loretta Clydene - McMinnville resident and Van Buren County, TN native Loretta Clydene Davenport, age 92, was born April 7, 1919 and died December 30, 2011 at River Park Hospital following a brief illness.  An educator with the Van Buren County, TN School System and member of the Harmony Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Phebe York Barnett.  She was married to Fred P. Davenport who who preceded her in death February 5, 2002.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Eunice Phifer and Earline Haley.  She is survived by two nephews and their spouses, Harris and Janice Haley of McMinnville and Dwain and Kitty Arnold of Christiana, TN;  three nieces and their spouses, Brenda and Don Evans of Nashville, TN, Jozada and Ken Smith of McMinnville and Jeri Fay and Sam Brothers of Bell Buckle, TN;  sister-in-law, Christine Arnold of Christiana, TN and several great-nieces and great-nephews.  Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 1, 2012 in High's Chapel with Bob McCoy officiating.  Burial followed in the Mt. GRISSOM, Jimmy B. "J.B." - Jimmy B. "J.B." Grissom, 87, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital, with his family by his side.  He was born March 21, 1924 in Van Buren Co. (Rocky River Community), Tennessee to Nancy (Clark) and Ernest T. Grissom. He attended Van Buren Co. Schools and served with the U.S. Army in Japan during the Korean War. He married Dorothy Emmalene (Grove) Grissom, September 22, 1956, then permanently made his home in Muncie, IN, where he was employed at Marhoefer Packing Company and Pepsi-Cola Bottlers before retiring.  J.B. enjoyed his annual garden, showing his grandchildren how things “used to be” done and the time spent with family. He was also a member of Towne Acres Church of Christ.  Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years; a daughter and son-in-law, Melody and Tim Crehan, Muncie; granddaughter, Jill Crehan, Indianapolis; and grandsons, Jordan and Jase Crehan, Muncie; several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Arzie, H. Clark and Theron Grissom; and four sisters, Elizabeth Hillis, Mattie Land, Maxine Sweeney and Ernestine Grissom.  Funeral service was held Sunday, January 15, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in High’s Chapel. Burial followed in Crain Hill Cemetery, Van Buren County, Tennessee.

GUNTER, Joseph Edward "Eddie" - McMinnville resident and Warren County native Joseph Edward "Eddie" Gunter, age 66, was born July 3, 1945 and died January 26, 2012 at River Park Hospital following a sudden illness.  An electrician, United States Army veteran of Vietnam and member of the Webb's Chapel United Methodist Church, he was the son of the late Joseph Fisher and Ruby Mai Jones Gunter.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Willie Roy Gunter.  He was married to Delbra Hillis Gunter of McMinnville.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Jonathan Hutchings of McMinnville;  son, Kevin Gunter of McMinnville;  four grandchildren, Gavin Gunter, Rachael Gunter, Brandon (Jessie) Hutchings and Dustin Hutchings;  two great-grandchildren, Reonin Hutchings and Victoria Hutchings and three brothers, Kenneth Eugene Gunter of Florida, Howard Lee Gunter of Ringgold, GA and Ronnie Gunter of Walling, TN.  Funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2012 in High's Chapel with George Storie and Kenneth Clayton officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family of Mr. Eddie Gunter in his memory.

ROBERTS, Connie David - McMinnville resident and Van Buren County, TN native Connie David Roberts, age 70, was born August 11, 1941 and died January 25, 2012 at his residence following an extended illness.  A contractor and member of the Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Elisha and Hallie Bouldin Roberts.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon David Steakley;  brother, Roy Roberts and three sisters, Willie Martin, Lillian Padgett and Joyce.  He was married to Doris Seals Roberts of McMinnville.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Anita Powers and Sherry Moore both of McMinnville;  four grandchildren, Chandi Nunley, Brandi Powers, Brady Powers and Nikki Moore;  brother, L.C. Roberts of McMinnville;  three sisters, Mary Shelton of Ohio and Shirley Adcock and Brenda Myers both of McMinnville.  Funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012 in High's Chapel with Jason Brown officaiting.  Burial followed in the Fawn Lake Cemetery.

ROGERS, Sara Smith - Winchester, TN resident and Warren County native Sara Smith Rogers, age 87, was born January 24, 1925 and passed peacefully January 25, 2012 at Willows at Winchester in Winchester, TN.  A retired legal secretary and member of the Westwood Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Robert Morris and Gladys Mason Smith.  She was married to James Amonell Rogers, Sr. who preceded her in death January 2, 1997.  She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Morris and Bonnie Jane Rogers of Winchester, TN and Jim and Doris Rogers, Jr. of Ashland, VA;  grandchildren, Rachel Rogers Parrish of Gallatin, TN, Lorrie Rogers Binns of Virginia and Jay Rogers of Ashland, VA;  great-granddaughter, Caroline Binns of Virginia and great-grandson, Paxton Stone Parrish of Gallatin, TN.  Funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2012 in High's Chapel with Coy Hathcock officiating.  Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery.

SELLARS, Ned - Dunwoody, GA resident and Warren County native Ned Sellars, age 87, was born November 27, 1924 and died January 13, 2012.  A United States Army veteran of WWII, he was the son of the late Oscar and Bertie Cleo Womack Sellars.  He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Mark Tyler;  two sons and daughters-in-law, Sidney R. and Lynn Sellars and Rodney and Janet Sellars;  step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Chris and Debbie Brannan;  two sisters, Blanche Turner and Nell Walker;  thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  A graveside service and interment was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Fuston Cemetery with Lisa Tyler and Lynn Sellars officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, Summers Landing Assisted Living-Dunwoody and The Red Oak UMC Recycled Teen all c/o High's.

TALBERT, Lee Wayne - McMinnville resident and Coffee County, TN native Lee Wayne Talbert, age 75, was born May 28, 1936 and died November 5, 2011 at River Park Hospital following a sudden illness.  A retired carpenter, plumber and electrician and member of the Bethel Church @ Mt. Zion, he was the son of the late Aubrey Lee and Mary Lou Burks Talbert.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Tansey Kay Talbert.  He was married July 13, 1957 to Joyce Carr Talbert of McMinnville.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, David Wayne Talbert and special friend Barry Tate of McMinnville, Richard Paris Talbert and girlfriend Michelle Parker of Manchester, TN and Tony R. WHITMAN, Dean - McMinnville resident and Alabama native Dean Whitman, age 81, was born January 28, 1930 and died January 14, 2012 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness.  A lumber worker, United States Army veteran and member of the Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Dean and Clara Belle Muncey Whitman.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Eddie Dean Whitman;  daughter, Kathleen Whitman;  two brothers, James and Carl Whitman;  sister, Gertrude Neal and grandson, Michael Betts.  He was married June 24, 1975 to "Bea" Whitman of McMinnville.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Pat Combs of McMinnville and John Combs of Whiteville, TN;  five daughters and sons-in-law, Terri Ruggiero and Becki Glazier both of Ohio, Michelle and David Betts of Murfreesboro, TN, Melissa and David Brown of Smithville, TN and Rebecca and Delane Thomas of Hillsboro, TN;  brother, Howard Whitman of McMinnville;  five sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue and Richard Manis of Painesville, OH, Georgia and Jack Trosky and Linda and Jimmy Gooch both of McMinnville;  Christine Turner of Smyrna, TN and Mary Smith of Rock Island, TN;  twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2012 in High's Chapel with Sid Stanton officiating.  Burial followed in the Crain Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.

WISER, Mamie Magdalean - McMinnville resident and Warren County native Mamie Magdalean Wiser, age 94, was born March 3, 1917 and died February 1, 2012 at Raintree Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness.  A retired employee of Formfit Rogers and member of the McMinnville First Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Mary Ellen Shirley Reynolds.  She was married May 3, 1941 to John Wilson Wiser who preceded her in death May 12, 1986.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Jerry Wayne Wiser;  two sisters, Georgia Northcutt and Anna Lee Young and half-brother, Grady Reynolds.  She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Larry Sharpe of McMinnville;  son, Darrell Wiser of McMinnville;  two grandchildren and their spouses, Steven and April Sharpe of Knoxville, TN and Stefanie and Justin McFall of Okinawa, Japan;  four great-grandchildren, Jackson, Preston and Hudson Sharpe all of Knoxville, TN and Jocelyn McFall of Okinawa, Japan;  several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2012 in High's Chapel with John May officaiting.  Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery.

WOMACK, Dorothy Jean - McMinnville resident and DeKalb County, TN native Dorothy Jean Womack, age 84, was born January 31, 1928 and died February 1, 2012 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN following a sudden illness.  A homemaker and member of the Highland Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Fonnie and Della May Harris Carter.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, John B. Carter;  brother, John B. "Brownie" Carter and three sisters, Dora Kay Algie, Alvie George and Carolyn June McCormick.  She was married August 30, 1947 to J.C. Womack of McMinnville.  In addition to her husband, she is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Gary T. and Wanda Womack of Sparta, TN;  daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Ralph Smith of Indiana;  eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild;  two brothers and Fonnie "Nick" Carter and Albert Carter both of McMinnville;  two sisters, Maxie Gordy of Las Vegas, NV and Janice Doak of McMinnville and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2012 in High's Chapel with Alan Collins officiating.  Burial followed in the Gardens of Memory.

YOUNGBLOOD, Earnest Wayne "Pest" - McMinnville resident and Warren County native Earnest Wayne "Pest" Youngblood, age 70, was born January 28, 1942 and died January 28, 2012 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN following a sudden illness.  A self-employed mechanic, United States Army veteran of Vietnam and member of Morrison Methodist Church, he was the son of the late Arry and Alma Woods Youngblood.  Mr. Youngblood was a member of the Unites States Army Honor Guard from 1964-1967.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Donald Austin.  He was married July 18, 1967 to Anita McCormick Youngblood of McMinnville.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Randal and Sally Youngblood of McMinnville;  five grandchildren, Keely Paige Youngblood, Lathan Wayne Youngblood, Arielle Jolie Youngblood, Harley Addison Youngblood and Phoenix Monroe Youngblood all of McMinnville;  four brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy Joe and Carolyn Youngblood, Arry Jack and Faye Youngblood and David and Gail Youngblood all of Morrison, TN and Larry Youngblood of McMinnville;  sister, Geneva Austin of McMinnville;  brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Johnny and Ruth Ann McCormick of Tullahoma, TN;  sister-in-law, Reta Madden of Summitville, TN;  two nieces, Laura McCormick and Karrissa McCormick;  nephew, Michael Madden and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.  Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2012 in High's Chapel with Jackie Matheny, Bo Hendrix and John May officiating.  Burial followed in the Summitville Cemetery in Coffee County, TN with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.

ZAHN, Daniel Ray - McMinnville resident and Warren County native Daniel Ray Zahn, age 56, was born February 10, 1955 and died January 19, 2012 at his residence following a eighteen-month illness.  A truck driver for Hillis Trucking, he was the son of the late Roy Joseph and Vera Mae Cantrell Zahn, Sr.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, George Franklin Zahn.  He is survived by three sons, Matthew Caleb Zahn of McMinnville and Jeremy Zahn and Robert Andrew Zahn both of New York;  two daughters, Christina Grace Zahn of New York and Bethany LeaAnne Zahn of McMinnville;  four brothers and sister-in-law, Roy Joseph Zahn, Jr. and Judy, Paul Eugene Zahn and Carolyn, James Allen Zahn and Melody and David Lee Zahn and Connie all of McMinnville;  two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dona Ann Earls and Jeff and Linda Sue Cantrell and Johnny both of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2012 in High's Chapel with Dennis Deweese officiating.  Burial followed in the Pike Hill Cemetery.
