Joseph Thomas Porter, Jr.

Joseph Thomas Porter, Jr., age 87, a McMinnville, TN resident and Colfax, CA native died June 22, 2014 at Riverview Terrace in McMinnville following a short illness. He was a retired teacher at Faulkner Springs Christian School, member of McMinnville Seventh-day Adventist Church and son of the late Joseph Thomas and Mae Wheeler Porter, Sr. He was married September 15, 1949 to Ruth Elizabeth Benton Porter who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Michael (Karen) Porter of Laurel, MD, Greg (Mary Kay) Porter, Olney, MD and Steve (LeAnne) Porter of Hoover, AL; five grandchildren, Summer Elizabeth Porter-Burke, Andrew Michael Porter, Brooke Jean Colburn, Sarah Michelle Porter and Amber Dawn Baker and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2014 at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 215 Bluff Springs Road, McMinnville, TN with Michael Porter to officiate. Interment will be in Faulkner Cemetery @ Pike Hill.
