Ann Stallings Wilson of McMinnville, and previously a resident of Dalton, GA passed away on July 18, 2025 at the age of 93. Born in Halls, TN on December 6, 1931, she was the daughter of Morris H. and Elsie Akin Stallings.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Franklin Davis Wilson, Jr.; son, James W. (Jay) Jacques III and her sisters, Ruth Stallings Calhoun and Jane Stallings Scates Mann. She is survived by her daughter, Julie Nunley of McMinnville, and her husband, Ronnie, whom she referred to as her second son; grandson, Matt C. Crosson (Meg) of Atlanta, GA; granddaughter, Caroline Ann Crosson of Nashville, TN; granddaughter, Taylor Jacques Amos (Levi) of Chatsworth, GA; two adorable great-grandchildren, Beckett Amos and Bexley Ann Amos; her sister, Lynne Stallings Harris of Halls, TN and several special nieces, nephews and friends.
Ann attended Union University and The University of Tennessee, Knoxville where she and her family lived thirty years. Business and military duties required their moving many times, and on each move, Ann became involved in the community in her church, women’s clubs, the schools and her garden club.
Ann’s varied work experiences as an administrative assistant for several years included LeBonheur Children’s Hospital, Memphis, several state positions, and areas of law and mental health. Ann was an active interior decorator for many years. She gave weekly home tips as a free-lance writer for the Dalton newspaper in Georgia and was a guest on a local Dalton television show offering ideas on decorating and tablescapes.
Always a Baptist and a member of seven different churches through the years across the South, Ann held roles from Vacation Bible School Director, Sunday School teacher for several different age groups, and willingly served on any committee. Later, she served as the President of her Sunday School class in Dalton for over ten years.
Ann was a stickler for proper grammar and etiquette; she was an excellent seamstress; she could play any song that she heard on the piano by ear; she loved to entertain, and later, simply cherished visits from friends and family; she had a quick wit and dry sense of humor. Through hardships and tragedy, Ann’s faith in God gave her strength, that in turn, gave her daughter strength. Ann’s family is comforted in knowing that she is now rejoicing in heaven, and that she has been reunited with her loved ones that have gone before her, including her son, Jay, that she has missed every single day since his passing.
A private celebration of her life will be held as we will honor her legacy of love, faith and perseverance. Memorial contributions may be made to a mental health association or Meals on Wheels.
