Barbara Jane Matthews Ross

McMinnville, TN resident and Jacksonville, IL native Barbara Jane Matthews Ross, age 68, was born May 5, 1955 and died May 26, 2023 at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, TN following a brief illness.

A retired employee of Oster Corporation, she was the daughter of the late Harold L. and Louise S. Woodland Matthews. She was married to James Richard Ross who preceded her in death on January 10, 2004. In addition to her parents and loving husband, she was preceded in death by son, Richard Allen Ross and companion, Edward Griggs.

Mrs. Ross is survived by daughter, Deedee (David) Thrower of McMinnville, TN; son, Roy Tucker of McMinnville, TN; grandchildren, Laura (Cody) Smartt, Michael (Katie) Thrower and Misti (Jason) Parsley; five great-grandchildren, Corbin and Maisyn Smartt, Everett Thrower and Hana and Maci Parsley; sister, Patty Matthews of Jacksonville, IL and special friends, Janice (Rusty) Mangrum and Michelle (Steven) Smith.

Graveside service and inurnment will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Trousdale Cemetery in Warren County, TN with Rusty Mangrum officiating. No visitation will be held at High Funeral Home. Friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to East Tennessee School of the Deaf.
