Benjamin James Smith

Nashville, TN resident and Davidson County, TN native Benjamin James Smith, age 40, was born on June 20, 1983 and died unexpectedly on October 26, 2023 in Lewisburg, TN. 

A HVAC technician and member of the Episcopal Church, he was the son Dorothy “Bee” Bragg Pettersen and father of Bethany Grace Birdwell, both of Nashville, TN. He was preceded in death by father, James Franklin Smith, Jr.; grandfather, Thomas M. Bragg; sister, Caroline Rhea Smith and cousin, D’Ann Bragg Schmitt.

In addition to his mother and daughter, Mr. Smith is survived by grandmother, Janie R. Bragg of Nashville, TN; uncles, Jay (Lynn) Bragg of McMinnville, TN and McQuiddy (Beth) Bragg of Franklin, TN; cousin, Alex Bragg of Atlanta, GA and mother of their daughter and loyal friend, Marissa Carol Birdwell of Nashville, TN.

Graveside service and inurnment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Mt. View Cemetery in McMinnville, TN with Charles McClain officiating. All friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery. No service or visitation will be held at High Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Buffalo Valley Rehab Center 534 2nd Avenue North Lewisburg, TN 37091.
