Betsy Sue Smoot Laxson

Mrs. Betsy Sue Smoot Laxson of Morrison was born in Jacksboro on her grandmother’s back porch March 9, 1930 to James “Jim” Norton Sr. and Hersie Mamie Bottoms Smoot. She went home to her Lord July 30, 2021. Preceding her in death besides her parents was her husband of 64 years, John Ardle Laxson, who passed in 2017. Two brothers Walter Clark Smoot and Dr. James Norton Smoot, Jr. She is survived by two daughters, Pamela Lynn Laxson and Luanne Smoot Laxson. Five grandchildren, not of the flesh but of the heart, Whitney (Jorge) Vazquez, Maggie Mansell, Lacey Jones Taylor, Olivia Newby, and Blake Newby. Two very special friends, Cathy Mansell and Rachel (Tim) Taylor. One great-granddaughter of the heart, Raylynn. One fur baby, Buddy. Several nephews and nieces survive. She was a member of Morrison First Baptist Church. A homemaker who devoted her life to her family. She loved people (and wanted to be called Mother by everyone). Loved animals and driving to see the beautiful scenery God made. A special thank you to High’s, and all of the Rachel’s of Avalon Hospice.
