Campaign Community resident and Lambert County, MS native Betty Jean Pearson Hillis, age 88, was born August 19, 1936 and died June 3, 2025 at NHC of Sparta in Sparta, TN following an extended illness.
A retired substitute teacher at Eastside Elementary School, a proud member of the Campaign Community Center and of the Christian faith, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Nona Hancock Pearson. She was married to Jack Hillis on February 10, 1956 who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter, Rose Mary "Rosie" Hillis and extended siblings.
Mrs. Hillis is survived by children, Doris Jean Goff of Rock Island, TN and Anita (William) Hollandsworth of Brownsville, KY; grandchildren, Jerrad Devore (Laura Gillespie), Chad (Rachael) Goff of Jefferson, GA and Sarah (Juan) Coppiano of Ackworth, GA; great-grandchildren, Jesse and Jaxkson Devore, Noelle, Eliza and Levi Coppiano and Audrey and Anniston Goff and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside service and interment will be held Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. at Friendship Cemetery in Warren County with Sarah Coppiano officiating. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery. No service or visitation will be held at High's.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eastside Elementary School.
