Betty Sue Barnes

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Betty Sue Barnes, age 85, was born May 27, 1938 and died July 3, 2023 at her residence following a brief illness.

A retired secretary with Vernon Barnes & Son Nursery and member of Pearls of Christ Church, she was the daughter of the late Livey and Annie Jones Barnes.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Billy, Charles, Milton and David Barnes;  sisters-in-law, Rachel and Sue Barnes and nephew, Ricky Joe Christian.

Ms. Barnes is survived by two sisters, Kay and Edith Barnes both of McMinnville;  special aunt, Joyce (John) Jones of McMinnville;  nephew, Billy Ray (Donna) Barnes of Sparta, TN;  nieces, Nora McBride and Tammy (Stacey) Sliger of McMinnville;  great-nieces and great-nephews, April Barnes, Bryan (Michelle) Christian, Mason Barnes, Tyler Bouldin, Rylan (Bailey) Sliger, Andy (Samantha) Sliger and Graylin (Cameron) Sliger and several great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews and cousins.

A graveside service and interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Smyrna Cemetery with Anthony and Travis Wanamaker officiating.  Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Thursday at High's.
