Billy Joe Lee

McMinnville, TN resident and Van Buren County, TN native, Billy Joe Lee, age 72, was born November 14, 1950 and died December 26, 2022 at his residence following an extended illness.           

A retired employee of Dezurik Corporation, licensed electrician and member of Smyrna Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Edward and Myrtle Smith Lee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Jim Ed, Paul, Don and Larry Lee and sister, Norma Boyd.

Mr. Lee was married to Judy Christian Lee of McMinnville, TN on July 2, 1970. In addition to his wife, Mr. Lee is survived by two daughters, Christal (Chris) Morton and Carrie Fann (Michael Rhea), both of McMinnville, TN; three grandchildren, Tyler (Allie) Morton, Cierra Fann and Carlee Fann, all of McMinnville, TN; two sisters, Gaynell Conner and Wanda (Carl) Shockley, both of Spencer, TN; one brother, Charles Lee of Spencer, TN and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2022 in High’s Chapel with Jon Simmons and Ray Weddington officiating. Burial will follow at Smyrna Cemetery in Warren County, TN. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at High Funeral Home.

The family extends a special thanks to Avalon Hospice and nurse, Leslie Nash.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be to Muscular Dystrophy Association.
