Carlie Eugene Burgess

McMinnville, TN resident and Livingston, TN native Carlie Eugene Burgess, age 85, was born December 31, 1938 and died April 13, 2024 in St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital following an extended illness. A retired self-employed farmer and member of the Church of Christ he was the son of the late Hershel and Nannie Mayberry Burgess. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Charles Edward Burgess; brothers, Lonzo and David Burgess and sister, Cezilla Barrett. Mr. Burgess was married December 23, 1964 to Armanda Herrin Burgess of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Carl (Tamisha) Burgess of McMinnville; grandchildren, Carissa (Justin) Jones of Cookeville, Meagan Burgess (Colby) of Spencer, Miranda (Samuel) Bain of McMinnville and Zachary (Rylan) Burgess; great-grandchildren, Carter and Cae Lynn Jones, Barron Burgess, Sherman Bain and Rosemary Bain; brothers, Harlan Burgess, Daniel (Monica) Burgess and Arvil Burgess and sisters, Mary Etta Bouldin, Delilah (Larry) Watson and Zodell Jones. Graveside service and interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Bascom Cemetery in Warren County, TN with Sam Bain to officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at High’s. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
