Catherine Sue Martin

Catherine Sue Martin, 86, of Jackson, TN, went home to be with Jesus November 19, 2023. She died peacefully with her family by her side at Brookdale Memory Care in Jackson, TN after a long illness with Alzheimer’s. Sue was born October 1, 1937 in McMinnville, TN to Hugh and Mary Lusk Paris. She attended High School at McMinnville Central High School in McMinnville, TN. She continued her education at Memphis State School of Nursing and graduated from Union University in Jackson, TN with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She was a cheerleader in high school, while her boyfriend Jack played football. Jack and Sue were later married and moved to Jackson, TN where she began her nursing career at Specialty Hospital as the Director of nursing. After serving many years at Specialty Hospital she worked at the Jackson Madison County Health Department and JMCGH in the mother/baby unit until she retired. Sue was a Godly Prayer Warrior. She made a list of the people who needed prayer and was committed to pray for each person on her list daily. Jack and Sue were members at West Jackson Baptist Church and loved their Sunday school class. Aside from nursing, Sue was always serving others. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. We all have many wonderful memories of spending time in their cabin at the Tennessee River, boating and fishing and having delicious fish fries. Sue is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Jack Martin; her parents, Hugh and Mary Lusk Paris and her brother, Don Paris. She is survived by her children, David (Elaine) Martin of McMinnville, TN and Kathy (Charlie) Mueller of Jackson, TN; her grandchildren, David Martin Jr. (Tenera) Martin, Matthew Martin, John (Kayleigh) Pheiffer, Cory (Haley) Mueller, Mary Katherine (Nate) Busuito and Maggie Belle Mueller; her great-grandchildren, Ty Martin, Luke Martin, Jax King, Caroline Martin, Blakely Mae Martin, Miles Martin Busuito and Jack Henry Martin. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial donations to be made to Alzheimer’s Tennessee, Inc. 5801 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919. (alztennessee.org). The family will have a visitation on Wednesday, Nov 22, 2023, at George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home North Chapel Jackson, TN 38305 from 4:00PM till 6:00PM. The funeral service will be held at High Funeral Home, 101 College St, McMinnville, TN 37110 on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 2:00 p.m with Jackie Matheny officiating.
