Denise Marie Newby

Rock Island, TN resident and St. Louis, MO. native Denise Marie Newby, age 69, was born December 12, 1955 and died December 11, 2025 peacefully in her sleep at her residence.

A homemaker and member of the Church of Christ at Blue Springs Cove, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Doloris Pfountz.

She was married to Gary M. Newby on May 25, 1973, who survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by children, Jason (Shelley) Newby of Knoxville, TN, Mechele (Jonathan) Hardy of Chattanooga, TN and Jeremy Newby of Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren, Sarah Hardy, Megan (Bryan) Sykes, Jonas Newby and Ellis Newby; sister, Janine (Rick) Tankersley of Covington, TN; brothers, David (Connie) Pfountz of Lebanon, TN, Carl (Brenda) Pfountz of Lexington, TN, Joe (Rhonda) Pfountz of Jacksonville, FL; brothers-in-law, David (Denise) Newby of Rome, GA, Willie (Donna) Newby of McMinnville, Manie (Rena) Newby of Rock Island; sister-in-law, Angel Powell of Rock Island; several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2025 in High's Chapel with Gary M. Newby and Jason Newby officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.
