Donald Boland Cathey

McMinnville resident and Coffee County, TN native Donald Boland Cathey, age 85, was born January 5, 1941 and died July 10, 2026 at his residence following a sudden illness. 

A retired Supervisor with A. O. Smith and a member of Bybee Branch Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Samuel Wade and Mattie Lou Harrell Cathey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, David Cathey; brothers, J. N., Leon, Buddy, Jerry, Richard and Bill Cathey; sisters, Barbara Jean Cathey and Dorothy Hollis. 

Mr. Cathey is survived by his wife of 63 years, Martha Dean Muncey Cathey; daughter, Sherrie (Donnie) Shields of Centertown Community; daughter-in-law, Shelia Cathey; grandchildren, D. J. Shields, Shania Cathey and Emily Shauman as well as several nieces and nephews. 

Graveside service and interment will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2026 at Shady Grove Cemetery in Coffee County with Tony Lawrence officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at High's.
