Earl Francis Burgess, Jr.

McMinnville, TN resident and Indian Lake, NY native Earl Francis Burgess, Jr., age 92, was born January 6, 1931 and died February 22, 2023 at NHC Healthcare in McMinnville, TN following an extended illness.           

A Unites States Army veteran and retired property manager with Gordon McGee Development, he was the son of the late Earl Francis and Violet Columbe Burgess, Sr.  He was married to Dorothy Mabel Frey Burgess on September 1, 1979 who preceded him in death.  In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by daughter, Terri Adams.

Mr. Burgess is survived by children, Pat Panter and Virginia Graveline, both McMinnville, TN, Faith Schroth of VA, Kathy Dunn of McMinnville, TN,  Robert Burgess and Dawn Degrandpre; grandchildren, Charlie Sunderland, Kelly Parks, Glenda Martin, Wyatt Martin, Clara Martin, Caitlyn Adams and Ethan Adams, all of McMinnville, TN and Jeffery Schroth, Johnny Schroth, Helen Petroski and Connor Burgess; several great-grandchildren; brother, Frank (Rose) Burgess; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Dale Norris and Tommy Adams.

Per Mr. Burgess’ wishes, he was cremated. Visitation was held Sunday, February 26, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at High’s. A graveside service and inurnment will be held at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Shellsford Cemetery in Warren County, TN with Mark Smith officiating.
