Eddie Reed

McMinnville, TN resident and Davidson County, TN native Eddie Reed, age 88 was born May 13, 1937 and died September 2, 2025 at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN following an extended illness.

A United States Navy veteran of Peacetime, retired employee of General Mills and a member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Ewel Meadows and Elsie Lee Gilbert Reed. He was married on November 22, 1958 to Jewel Dean Jackson who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by sister, Mary Rogers; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Marilyn Costello and sister-in-law, Paula Campbell.

Mr. Reed is survived by son, Eddie Lee "Buddy" (Mary) Reed, Jr. of McMinnville, TN; daughters, Donna McBride and Debbie (Brian) Mathis, both of McMinnville, TN; grandsons, Josh McBride of Rock Island, TN, Chase Mathis of Murfreesboro, TN, Eddie Lee (Rachael) Reed, III, Benjamin West (Talesha) Reed of McMinnville, TN and Hunter Mathis (Jeanna Harbin) and great-grandchildren, Savannah Carvalho of Murfreesboro, TN, Hudson Mathis, Rennie Woodlee, Piper Reed and Wiley Reed.

Graveside service and interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2025 at Gardens of Memory in Warren County, TN with Gary Newby officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at High’s.

Full military honors will be administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
