Edith Eulala McCoy Martin

Spencer, TN resident and Van Buren County, TN native Edith Eulala McCoy Martin, age 92, was born July 23, 1930 and died May 8, 2023 at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, TN following a brief illness.           

A retired cafeteria worker with Van Buren County School System and a member of Spencer Church of Christ and The Caravan Singers, she was the daughter of the late William Lester and Janie Gladys Johnson McCoy.  She was married to Coach Ealon Martin on December 18, 1951 who preceded her in death on December 28, 2001.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by grandson, Mark Rigsby and brothers, Thelbert McCoy and Linn McCoy.

Mrs. McCoy is survived by children, Sandra Martin (Dwight) Rigsby of Rock Island, TN and Michael (Lola) Martin of Sparta, TN; three grandchildren, Lyn Alison Martin, Wesley Martin and Matthew Rigsby; four great-grandchildren, Hope Martin, Renley Martin, Macey Rigsby and Luke Rigsby; two sisters, Vivian McCoy (Howard) White of Nashville, TN and Mary K. Guy of Sparta, Tn; brother, Brad (Rella) McCoy of Spencer, TN and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2023 in High’s Chapel with Bob McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Long Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at High Funeral Home.
