Frank "Donald" Cowan

McMinnville, TN resident and Smith County, TN native Frank “Donald” Cowan, age 90, was born April 2, 1933 and died April 5, 2023 at NHC Healthcare of McMinnville following an extended illness.           

Donald was the son of the late Ira B. and Siddie Mae Stewart Cowan. He was a farmer from the Centertown community, who at various times during his life also had a milk route. He was a Christian, a member of The Vine Baptist Church and former member of Bates Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Donald was, at one time, a chairman on the board at Farmer’s Co-op, served on the boards of Warren County Farm Bureau and ASCS, was a truck driver and in retirement enjoyed driving a tour bus.

He was married to Betty Jean Hale on October 20, 1951 who preceded him in death on July 29, 1999. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Cowan is survived by daughters, Dana (Ross) Womack of Murfreesboro, TN and Rhonda (Don) Smith of Smyrna, TN; son, Jimmy (Pam) Cowan of McMinnville, TN; grandchildren, Amanda (David) Haley of Chattanooga, TN, Jennifer Smith of Smyrna, TN, Heather (Steve) Reisser of Murfreesboro, TN, Haley (Jason) Richardson of Smyrna, TN, Justin (Emily) Smith of Nashville, TN, Matthew (Beth) Cowan of Woodbury, TN, Tara Cowan of McMinnville, TN and Hannah (Ryan) Jones of Charleston, SC; great-grandchildren, Anna, Patrick, Jagger, Falon, Leila, Skyler, Catherine, Cameron, Lorelai and Oliver; several nieces, nephews and cousins; brother-in-law, Jerry Hale and lifelong friend and brother-in-law, Louis Jordan.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2023 in High’s Chapel with Rob Black officiating. Burial will follow at Centertown Cemetery in Warren County, TN. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at High Funeral Home.
