Franklin Standifer, 89, of Aiken, South Carolina passed away February 7, 2023. He was born September 20, 1933 in Tennessee. He attended Irving College High School in McMinnville, TN then graduated from the University of Tennessee and went on to receive an M.B.A from the University of Michigan. He spent a career as a true patriot in the service of the United States Government. He also served in the Air National Guard, retiring as Lieutenant Colonel and was a member of the American Legion for 70 years.
He was married 69 years to his beloved wife, Jewell Dean Stacy Standifer who survives him, along with their son, Dean Franklin Standifer of Augusta, GA. Frank also lived for and loved golf and played on many courses all over the world with colleagues and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John C. and Pauline Cordell Standifer of McMinnville, TN; two brothers, Johnny Thomas Standifer and Jack Jennings; and a sister, Freda Jennings Michel, all of Florida. He is survived by two sisters, Sara Standifer Hamilton of Alabama and Nancy Standifer Sikora of Ohio. He is also survived by a large family of nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grand-nieces, and great-grand-nieces.
Interment will be at a private family ceremony in Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in his memory to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aiken, S.C.
Full military honors will be administered by American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.
