Hazel Dean Rains

February 24, 1939 — September 12, 2023

McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Hazel Dean Rains, age 84, was born February 24, 1939 and passed to her heavenly home on September 12, 2023 at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro. She was a devoted Christian spending her last 20 months attending church services “Singing and Praising the Lord” while residing with friends at the Woodbury Nursing Home.

A loving mother and retired seamstress, she was the daughter of Walter Thomas and Mary Ethel Christian Brady. Hazel was married to her former spouse, Leonard Rains for 33 years. He preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by sisters, Lavern Coppinger, Lois Templeton, Joyce Miller and Sandra McBride and brothers, Glen Dale Brady and J. C. Brady.

Hazel is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Chuck Kirby; granddaughters and spouse, Cristy Kirby, Brittany and Mason Englehart and her great-granddaughters, Skye and Olivia, who affectionately knew her as “HayHay.” HayHay loved nothing more than to give and receive affection, especially to her granddaughters and great-grandbabies. Hazel is also survived by her sister, Brenda Roberts and brother and spouse, Gary and Eva Lois Brady; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Wilma Ware and Joyce Matheny.

She was known as a caring, hardworking and selfless person. Hazel was a true family person and loved nothing more than caring for family. Her home was always open. She had an authentic way of making you feel special, cared for and loved immensely. Her loving and spirited nature was contagious and made her a joy to be around. Her spirt lives forever in our hearts. A special “Thank You” to Woodbury Nursing and Rehab Center for all the “love and compassion.” You all are a tremendous blessing. Thank You!
