McMinnville, TN resident and Davidson County, TN native James Edward Johnson, age 90, was born October 29, 1935 and died July 21, 2026 at The Waters of Smyrna in Smyrna, TN following an extended illness.
A retired mechanic and member of Browns Chapel Missionary Church, he was the son of the late Nelson and Clara Bell King Johnson. He was married to Helen Lucille Johnson on December 7, 1955 who preceded him in death in 2017. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by son, Carl E. Johnson; grandchildren, Otissa Perkins, Spencer Colvin, Jr. and Nathan Fisk; great-grandchild, Baby Dominique Bryson Johnson and twelve brothers and sisters.
Mr. Johnson is survived by children, Joyce A. Johnson of Madison, TN, Nora (Norby) Borshel of Salt Lake City, UT, Gary L. Johnson of McMinnville, TN, Shelia L. (Noble) Kakoro of Smyrna, TN, Timothy W. Johnson and James D. Johnson, both of McMinnville, TN and Shaun D. (Belita) Johnson of Smyrna, TN; twenty grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2026 in High’s Chapel. Burial will follow at Browns Chapel Cemetery in Warren County, TN. Visitation will be Saturday, August , 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at High’s.
