James Lonnie Milstead

McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native James Lonnie Milstead, age 91, was born November 18, 1934 and died November 25, 2025 at his residence following an extended illness.

A nurseryman and member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Claude and Lena Cunningham Milstead. He was married to Sarah Milstead on June 23, 1952 who preceded him in death on February 27, 2017. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, George, Alton, Bill and Thomas Milstead and sisters, Irene Barnes, Alma Milstead, Lee Milstead and Lorene Milstead.

Mr. Milstead is survived by son, Russell (Candy) Milstead of the Irving College Community; daughters, Tonyua (Dwight) Hickey and Valorie (Mike) Denney, both of McMinnville, TN; grandchildren, Mileah Milstead of Thompson Station, TN, Kyle Hickey of the Rocky River Community, Kenya Steakley and Jason (Lauren) Denney, both of McMinnville, TN and Jody (Jessica) Denney of Huntsville, AL; great-grandchildren, Addison Steakley, Rex and Esther Denney and Maxton and Emmy Denney and special friend, Loretta Richardson.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2025 in High’s Chapel with David Costello officiating. Burial will follow at Hebron Cemetery in Warren County, TN. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at High’s.
