Crossville, TN resident and White County, TN native James Stanley Veal, age 90, was born July 22, 1935 and died May 14, 2026. He was the son of the late Amos and Nelta Veal. He was married to Gypsie Henry Veal who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by son, Chris Veal and siblings, Jack Veal, Lorene Campbell, Laurene Porter and JoAnn Hays.

James is survived by children, Darlene King of McMinnville, TN, Ken Veal of Chattanooga, TN and Amanda (Mike) Anderson of Crossville, TN; mother of his children, Marie Gay Veal of McMinnville; grandchildren, Skipper (Nada) Jacobs of Topeka, KS, Travis (Cheyenne) King and Lincoln (Denisse) Phillips, both of McMinnville, TN, Ethan (Hailey) Phillips of Whitwell, TN and Jacob Fullbright of Crossville, TN; twelve great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and special friend and caregiver, Miss Kay Minter.

Mr. Veal was a member of Homestead Baptist Church in Crossville, TN. He had a deep love for the Lord and strived to be the best Christian he could.

He spent his life as a Grade Superintendent, which took him not only across the United States but also the world building numerous roads, highways and golf courses. The most notable golf course is Liberty National Golf Club, located in Jersey City, New Jersey overlooking New York City and the Statue of Liberty.

If you asked him other than working what he enjoyed doing, he would tell you about spending time with his family, playing his mandolin and watching football.

He spent the last couple of years living with his daughter and son-in-law on a farm in Crossville, Tennessee where he loved taking care of his cattle and growing a garden.

Mr. Veal had a full, rich life helping others and always taking care of his family. He will be greatly missed by many, but he left this life leaving a legacy of achievements, acts of kindness and an example that we should all try to replicate.
