Janie Carol Whiteaker Tenpenny

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Janie Carol Whiteaker Tenpenny, age 76, was born October 14, 1947 and died November 24, 2023 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville following an extended illness.           

A former deputy clerk with the Warren County Court Clerk’s office and a member of Shellsford Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Joe Whiteaker and Ruby Jill Holland Byrd. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by step-mother, Wynema Whiteaker and former husband, Harlan Tenpenny.  

Ms. Tenpenny is survived by two daughters, Kristi Tenpenny and Trina Burks, both of McMinnville; grandson, Dustin Walker; special friends, Bridget Blair and Calvin Smith; brother, Ed (Debbie) Whiteaker of Florida and three nephews. 

Janie loved her family and her pets dearly, especially her cat Bella.

Graveside service and interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 27, 2023 at Smyrna Cemetery in Warren County. No service or visitation will be held at High’s. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery.
