Jessie "Faye" Smith Sanders was born on March 26, 1937 and died Monday, April 28, 2025 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN, with family at her bedside. She was the daughter of the late Ruben Jackson and Lillie Ethel Fults Smith. On August 26,1953 she married Franklin D. Sanders, Sr. who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by children, James Sanders Sr. and Patsy Layne; grandson Robert Sanders; great grandchildren, LaTosha, Lacey and Stacey Fults, and Katelynn Fults; sons in law, Jackie Narramore, Sr. and Larry Layne; grandsons in law, Chad Sullivan and Honky Fults; brothers, Bud, Roy and Paul Smith; sisters, Kathleen Nunley, Ernestine Perry, and Nellie McCormick.
She is survived by children, Henry (Fay) Sanders, Sharon Narramore and Dickey Sanders, all of McMinnville, Franklin Jr (Gina) Sanders of Manchester, TN; 22 grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 8 step great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; 4 additional great-great-grandchildren due later this year, and 5 step great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Paulette (Joel) Rollins of Whitwell, TN, Nena Nunley and Glenda Drewer, both of McMinnville; brothers, Nelson Smith of Ashland City, TN, and William "Billy" Smith of McMinnville; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Faye enjoyed family time, a girl’s day out, word search puzzles, flea markets, yard sales, embroidering, laughing, working at the old Dinty Moore's restaurant, Diet Sun Drops, cold pizza, honey buns and anything green. She dedicated her life to her family and she would happily tell you about each of them. To know her was to love her and to be loved.
Graveside service and interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Philadelphia Cemetery in Grundy County. Visitation will be Friday, May 2, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at High’s.
