Jimmy Dean Hobbs

Jimmy Dean Hobbs, 83, was born on June 21, 1939 on Dry Shave Mountain in Grundy County to Jay and Lassie Clendenon Hobbs.

Mr. Hobbs is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Geraldine Bowdoin and Janie Oliver; brother-in-law, Paul Oliver; sister-in-law, Edith Hobbs; nephew, Jeffery Hobbs and nieces, Lautricia Hobbs and Deborah Hawkins.

Mr. Hobbs is survived by brothers, Carl (Catherine) Hobbs and Morris (Elega) Hobbs; sisters, Barbara Smith and Faye (Randall) Barrett and several nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.

Mr. Hobbs served in the United States Army for two years then served the TN Army National Guard for four years. After returning home, he cut timber until retiring. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Coalmont, TN.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 5, 2022 in High’s Chapel with Jimmy King officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Grundy County, TN. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at High’s.

Full military honors will be administered by American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.
