Joe Strickland Moody

Rock Island, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Joe Strickland Moody, Jr., age 73, was born August 29, 1952 and died July 12, 2026 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN following a brief illness.

A retired door greeter for Walmart and former employee of Hillis Trucking Company, Cumberland Lumber and Manufacturing Company and Magnetek Century Electric, he was the son of Deamie Moody of Rock Island, TN and the late Joe Strickland Moody, Sr. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by uncle and aunt, EL and Faye Whitworth.

Mr. Moody was married to Barbara Moody of Rock Island, TN on March 27, 1987. In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by children, Stacey (David) Hart of McMinnville, TN and Chad (Christie) Harris, Joella Moody and Cora Brimer, all of Rock Island, TN; grandchildren, Faith Godwin, Jackson Hart, Allison Hart, Shelby Hart, Emmit Hart, Mara Harris, Arrow Harris, Maelynn Harris and Strickland Stewart; special grandchildren, Lakelynn Melson and Kolee Davis and several cousins.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2026 in High’s Chapel with Bob McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Crain Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at High’s.
