John Ogden Melton, Jr.

John Ogden Melton, Jr., age 67, a McMinnville, TN resident and Coalmont, TN native was born October 28, 1953 and died July 7, 2021 at his residence following an extended illness. He was an automotive tech at Wal-Mart, a United States Army veteran, and the son of the late John Ogden and Mildred Haggard Tate Melton, Sr. Mr. Melton is survived by daughter, Amanda Bryant of Morrison, TN; son, John Melton, III; stepchildren, Sarah Vasquez, Cameron Vathe, and Stephan Vathe; grandchildren, Danielle, Derek, John Melton IV, and Ethan; sisters, Shirley Oldson and Sherry Pearsall; aunt, Mary Ellen Ferrell; brother-in-law, Bill Prater; and niece, Shanna Bodell. Several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2021 in High’s Chapel. Burial will follow in Grace Chapel Cemetery in Grundy County. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at High’s.
