John Paul Blanks

John Paul Blanks, age 87, a McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native was born March 25, 1934 and died July 20, 2021 at Ascension St. Thomas River Park Hospital following a brief illness. He was the son of the late James C. and Pearl Gaither Blanks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Gladys Marie Bouldin Blanks; stepmother, Carrie Mayes Blanks; twin brother, James Lon Blanks; sisters, Martha Blanks and Polly Blanks; sisters-in-law, Bessie Smithson, and Sandra Bouldin; and brothers-in-law, Winford Bouldin, James Bouldin, D.L. Bouldin, A.P. Bouldin, and Jack Smithson. Mr. Blanks is survived by sisters, Dean Maxwell, and Nancy (Bobby) Lusk; sisters-in-law, Eva Sue Bouldin, Christine Bouldin, Catherine Foreman, and Jimmie Blanks; brother-in-law, Carl (Marcia) Bouldin; and special family members, Howard Mayes, and Betty Jo Walker. Numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins also survive. John was a longtime member at North Hamilton Church of Christ in Chattanooga, TN and was currently a member of Rockliff Church of Christ in McMinnville. He was retired from Dupont Corp. in Chattanooga, TN. Active Pall Bearers will be Jameson Bouldin, Justin Bouldin, Adam Bouldin, Davey Bouldin, Jarrod Underhill, Eric Walker, and Daniel Walker. Honorary Pall Bearers will be the men of North Hamilton Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Gospel of Christ or North Hamilton Church of Christ building fund. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in High’s Chapel with David Smith, Mike Bouldin, and Bill Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in Bascom Cemetery in Warren County.
