Joseph Franklin Cox, Sr.

McMinnville, TN resident and Whitwell, TN native Joseph Franklin Cox, Sr., age 88, was born July 31, 1937 and died May 7, 2026 at his residence following an extended illness.

A retired mechanic, he was the son of the late John Henry and Sarah Lee Cox Nunley. He was married to Nancy Carolyn Anderson on May 13, 1960 who preceded him in death on April 28, 2026. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brother, Dave Anderson and sister, Louise Nichols.

Mr. Cox is survived by son, John Cox of McMinnville, TN; grandchildren, Braxton Cox, Madison (Cody) Eldridge, Drema Cox, Brent Cox and Justin Cox; great-grandchildren, Silvia Eldridge, Mia Eldridge and Cadence Eldridge and brother, “Dual” Anderson of FL.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2026 in High’s Chapel with Braxton Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Cox Family Cemetery in Warren County, TN. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at High’s.
