Morrison

Joyce Faye Barnes of McMinnville passed away on November 5, 2024, at the age of 75. Joyce was born on November 23, 1948 in McMinnville, TN, to C.D. and Lucille Barnes. She was a Warren County native and a lifelong resident of the Centertown Community.

Joyce grew up in a loving, Christian home on the family farm, River Valley Farms. Living on a dairy farm, there was lots of work to do and Joyce would always make sure the younger siblings had chores as well. Even though farm work was long and hard, they shared many laughs and special memories together. In 1966 Joyce graduated from Centertown High School, and in school was voted FFA Sweetheart.

Joyce spent many years working at the Warren County Child Development Center as well as the Central Church of Christ preschool program. She loved caring for and teaching children. She would occasionally run into some of them decades later, which brought her much joy. Joyce was also dedicated to working alongside her brother, Jimmy, at Heritage Farms Nursery. She was responsible for overseeing the ladies crew that trimmed buds.

Joyce was highly active throughout her life as a strong, independent woman. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed being outdoors. She grew beautiful flowers and roses. She loved to mow and keep her yard looking pristine. She was an enthusiastic Tennessee Vols fan for life and enjoyed going to football games with her family and her dear friend, Diane Gillentine. She had the most fun with her nephews Jimmy, Jameson, and Justin.

She was a long-time member of Ivy Bluff Church of Christ and in recent years attended West Riverside Church of Christ. Joyce had a servants heart, always helping others in a quiet way. Her faith in God and love for her family will always be remembered.
