Judy Bell Groves

Rock Island, TN resident and Rhea County, TN native Judy Bell Groves, age 81, was born May 23, 1942 and died February 4, 2024 at Ascension St. Thomas River Park Hospital following a brief illness. A retired assembly worker with A. O. Smith, she was the daughter of Gladys Stephens Marler of Dayton, TN and the late Oliver Marler. She was married to Otis Vincent Groves on October 1, 1960 who preceded her in death. In addition to her father and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter, Norma Keel; brothers, Buddy and Raymond Marler and special friend, Gerald Hillis. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Groves is survived by daughters, Teresa Holland of Manchester, TN and Janet (Chris) Price of Dunlap, TN; son, Tom Groves of North Carolina; son-in-law, Wayne Keel of McMinnville, TN; grandchildren, Stephanie (Kevin) Knox of McMinnville, TN, Jon (Michelle) Keel of McMinnville, TN, Rachael (Jeff) Russ of Manchester, TN, Nichole (Brian) Theriot of Sweetwater, TN, Ashley (Chris) Cordell of Dunlap, TN and Madison Hillis of McMinnville, TN; fifteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Freddie (Sheila) Marler of Dayton, TN and Jack (Jan) Marler of Evansville, TN; several nieces and nephews, as well as her favorite dog, Bill, also survive. Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday February 7, 2024 in High’s Parlors with Freddie Marler officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at High’s.
