Morrison, TN resident and Warren County native Junior Floyd Kirby, age 88, was born May 8, 1937 in Sparta, TN and passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025 at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Murfreesboro, TN following an extended illness.

A retired United States Air Force veteran and former employee of the Carrier Corporation, he was the son of Thurman Kirby and Addie Bryant Kirby. He was married to Kiyomi Murai Kirby on September 8, 1958 who preceded him in death on June 28, 2021. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Kirby, March 31, 1978 and sister Lillian Bouldin, January 23, 2020.

Together they raised four children experiencing military life traveling the world: Vandenberg, CA; Naha, Okinawa; Kessler, MS; Naha Okinawa; Warner Robins, GA and Andrews, MD.

Floyd’s expertise was in heavy equipment, concrete, and building runways for aircraft. He did just that in May 1966 to July 1967 during the Vietnam War.

After his Air Force retirement he worked for the Carrier Corporation. Floyd loved his home on the lake in Morrison, TN. He enjoyed working on his property and fishing. He always had an extra fishing pole inviting family members to come fish.
