McMinnville, TN resident and Grundy County, TN native Lanny Ross Wanamaker, age 84, was born September 7, 1939 and died July 7, 2024 at his residence following an extended illness.
A retired dump truck driver for Hillis Trucking, he was the son of the late Woodrow and Martha Merriman Wanamaker. He was a member of Warren County Rescue Squad and a former coach for several years with the Warren County Youth Baseball League. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Wilson Wanamaker; sister, Nadyne Woodlee; sons-in-law, Clyde Kirby and Chris Simmons and two grandchildren, Chris Simmons, Jr. and Baby boy Simmons.
Mr. Wanamaker was married December 21, 1957 to Barbara Yates Wanamaker of McMinnville who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Barry (Donna) Wanamaker, Brian (Cindy) Wanamaker, Lorie Kirby and Leigh Simmons all of McMinnville; eight grandchildren, Jacob Wanamaker, Penny (Wes) Jordan, Chris (Sabrina) Wanamaker, Haley (Bryan) Pendergrast, Brandon Kirby, Ashley (Landon) King, Nichlas Simmons & Chase Simmons; nine great-grandchildren, Maddie Grace Jordan, Morgan Wesley Jordan, Lily Wanamaker, Chloe Wanamaker, Elijah Wanamaker, Kamryn Pendergrast, Braxton King, Lucas King & Layla King; brother, Hal (Brenda) Wanamaker of McMinnville; sister-in-law, Priscilla Wanamaker of McMinnville and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice, especially Aimee Posthumus.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at High's. Per his wishes, Mr. Wanamaker will be cremated.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Warren County Rescue Squad or McMinnville Special Games.
