Lewis Travis George

McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Lewis Travis George, age 67, was born August 14, 1954 and died September 11, 2021 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN following a sudden illness. Retired Chief Petty Officer from the United States Navy and a member of the Baptist church, he was the son of the late James Willard and Enzie Naomi Hillis George. He was married to Deborah Sue Campbell George of McMinnville, TN on February 17, 1975. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Rosemary Honeycutt. In addition to his wife of 46 years, Mr. George is survived by children, Melody (Vada) Smith, Luann Robinson, and Susan George; grandchildren, Jessie George, Danice (Chase) Swan, Jacob Messer, Destiny (Trent) Lumbley, Heaven George, and Maddie Faulk; great-grandchildren, Houston, Swayzie, and Jessie Jr. George; brother, Dewey (Faye) George; sisters, Brenda (Steve) Walker and Vickie (Carl) White; several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside service and interment will be held at 4:30 p.m. Monday, September 13, 2021 at Crain Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN with David Kilgore officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at High’s. Full military honors will be administered by American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064. The family respectfully request that everyone wear a mask and practice social distancing. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Warren County Anglers, c/o Parents of Warren County Anglers (POWCA) PO Box 214, Smartt, TN 37378.
