Linda Lou Yates

Rock Island, TN resident and Van Buren County, TN native Linda Lou Yates, age 86, was born January 18, 1939 and died June 19, 2025 at her residence following an extended illness.

A retired caregiver and a member of Cumberland Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, Mrs. Yates was the daughter of the late Richard and Martha Lou Prater Bishop. She was married to Carl Edward Yates on March 14, 1959 who preceded her in death on February 20, 2007. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter, Venita Hosse; granddaughter, Tisha LaShae Cantrell and brothers, Deimer Smart Bishop and Richard Eugene Bishop.

Mrs. Yates is survived by son, Carl Timothy (Carolyn) Yates of Rock Island, TN; grandchildren, Angie (Larry) Hurst of Sparta, TN, Jason Edward Yates of the Rocky River Community and Davida (Diane) Temple of the Short Mountain. Community; great-grandchildren, Trevor and Lillian Hurst, Kayla Shepherd, Chloe, Will, Jayce and Braxton Yates, Shelby King and Braden Cantrell and nephew, Vaughn Bishop of the Cedar Grove Community.

Per Mrs. Yates’ wishes, she will be cremated. No service or visitation will be held at High’s.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kids of the Community or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
