Melinda Sue Nicholas Shockley

Rock Island, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Melinda Sue Nicholas Shockley, age 62, was born February 8, 1963 and died October 4, 2025 at Erlanger Baroness Hospital in Chattanooga, TN following a brief illness.

A home health caregiver and member of Freedom Life Church, she was the daughter of the late Franklin and Betty Roberts Nicholas. She was married to Ralph Edward Shockley on June 27, 1995 who preceded her in death on May 19, 2020. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by nephew, Ricky Nunley, Jr.

Mrs. Shockley is survived by children, Dustin (Tori) Watts of McMinnville, TN, Joshua (Kally) Watts of Murfreesboro, TN and Brian (Brittany) Halfacre, Shelby (Matthew) Johnson, Gage Shockley and Melina Shockley, all of McMinnville, TN; grandchildren, Hayden, James and Jaxon Watts, Ava, Hadley, Walker and Hatcher Watts, Brayden Halfacre and Kane, Elijah and Caillum Johnson; sister, Melody (Stan) Hillis of McMinnville, TN; brothers, Dewayne Nicholas, Joseph (Donna) Nicholas and David (Heidi) Nicholas, all of McMinnville, TN and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2025 in High’s Chapel with Anthony Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Crain Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service at High’s.
