Myrtice Cooper DeMonbreun

October 26, 1931 — July 4, 2022

Myrtice Cooper DeMonbreun, age 90, passed peacefully, July 4, 2022, in her daughter's arms. She was born in Quebeck, TN, October 26, 1931, to the late Karl Russell Cooper and Dorothy Pittman Cooper. She was also preceded in death by the love of her life, William “Bill” Andrew DeMonbreun, II, to whom she was married for almost 66 years. She lost her son, William Andrew “Andy” DeMonbreun, III in 1988 and brothers, Hardy Steele Cooper and Burns Pittman Cooper. She is survived by daughter, Dorothy Ann DeMonbreun Dunn (Daryl); grandsons, Daryl Raymond Dunn, Jr. and Andrew Cooper Dunn; granddaughter, Anna DeMonbreun Frye (Matt) and great-granddaughters, Reagan Frye and Reese Frye. Mrs. DeMonbreun graduated from the first four-year BSN program at Vanderbilt School of Nursing and was employed as a Public Health Nurse in Georgia and many counties in Tennessee. She started and taught Health Occupations at Warren County High School and when she left the classroom, became the School Nurse for all of Warren County. She was a founding member of Westwood Church of Christ, where she worshipped for many years and a member of Rockliff Church of Christ when she passed away. Mrs. DeMonbreun had moved to Riverview Terrace where she loved being amongst friends. The family would like to thank the staff of Riverview Terrace and NHC Healthcare for all their kindness and support. She took her students three times a week to NHC while she taught school. Graveside service and inurnment will be at Mt. View Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2022 with Dave Dockins and Daryl Dunn officiating. The Warren County Nurse Honor Guard will administer last rites at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ronald McDonald House, 2144 Fairfax Avenue, Nashville, TN 37212.
