Notie Pearl Ramsey

October 8, 1944 — April 23, 2024

McMinnville

Notie Pearl Ramsey, daughter of the late Russell and Notie Mooneyham Ashley, was born October 8, 1944 in Van Buren County, TN and died April 23, 2024 at Signature Healthcare of Monteagle. She was 79 years of age. Notie was fondly known by family as Nana, Notie Pearl, or Margaret.

Mrs. Ramsey was married July 2, 1964 to Thorold Ramsey who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by son, Patrick Ramsey and three brothers, the oldest are Johnny Ashley and Herbert (Aline) Ashley and the youngest was Adrian Neal Ashley.

She is survived by daughter, Mitzi Ramsey (Mark Garland) of McMinnville; grandchildren, Raven Dixon and Bailey Moore (Taylor) and great-grandchildren, Charleigh, Reese and Ryatt Moore, all of McMinnville.

Notie graduated from Van Buren County High School in 1963 and was well liked in her teen years earning titles such as “Miss Dairy Princess”, “Most Popular” and “Best All Around”. Though she was popular, she did not go on but one or two dates. She enjoyed spending time with her best friends Margie Bouldin and Ann Roberts. Notie was probably too busy to date with all she was involved with. She was “Harvest Festival Queen”, a member of the Glee Club, Beta Club, secretary of the Christian Club, basketball manager and class song leader. Her first job was in Nashville while attending college. She earned her business degree at Draughons Junior College in Nashville, preparing her for her next endeavor. Her best job ever was owning a radio station with her husband, Thorold Ramsey, in McMinnville, TN. She met the love of her life working in a Dr. Pepper bottling company where he was also employed and they were married 41 wonderful years. Her happiest memory is when her granddaughter was born, making Raven, Patrick and Mitzi her greatest accomplishments. She was known to be a very kind and giving person, believing you should treat others as you would want to be treated. Notie has overcome various hardships in life with strength and perseverance. Her contributions to her community through her radio station and good deeds are why she was honored in the Hall of Fame at Signature Healthcare of Monteagle. Notie had a heart of gold and was a favorite among her peers.

We are so grateful to all of Nana’s nurses and caregivers at Signature Healthcare of Monteagle. A very heartfelt thanks to Julie Coffelt, who was such a blessing.
