Nova Louise Courtney

Rock Island, TN resident and Van Buren County, TN native Nova Louise Courtney, age 96, was born November 21, 1925 and died September 28, 2022 at her residence following an extended illness. A homemaker and member of Friendship the Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Hattie Walker Jones. She was married to Richard Courtney on November 3, 1951 who preceded her in death on June 13, 2007. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Myrtle Young, Charlie Jones, Josie Sanders, Rosie Martin Hitchcock, Elbert Jones, Minnie Belle Donalson, Raymond Lee Jones and Toll Jones. Ms. Courtney is survived by brothers-in-law, Darrold (Sharon) Courtney and Leslie (Judy) Courtney, both of Oklahoma; a host of nieces, nephews and other family members whom she cherished and special caregivers, Bernita Myers, Rhonda Barnes, Cheryl Wamsley, Jennifer York, Freda Hennessee, Taylan Hobbs, Debbie McDowell and Beckee Bell. Graveside service and interment will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Friendship Cemetery in Warren County, TN with Bryan Jones officiating. No service or visitation will be held at High’s. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Friendship Cemetery.
