Patrick Michael McSweeney

Nashville, TN resident and Venezuela native Patrick Michael McSweeney, age 78, was born July 13, 1947 and died October 9, 2025 at TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN following a short illness.

A retired employee of Brinks Security and of the Baptist faith, he was a United States Navy veteran of Vietnam, the Cold War and Desert Storm. He served in the Navy from 1967 until 1997 where he did damage control, was a fire fighter, distinguished instructor and was an inspector of ships. Mr. McSweeney was also a school bus driver for 9 years.

He was the son of the late William Timothy and Grace Marsh McSweeney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Bobbie Jean McSweeney, Joan Patrice McSweeney, Elizabeth McSweeney Hutton, William "Bill" (Nancy Husk) McSweeney and James Daniel McSweeney; brother-in-law, Forrest Wayne Crawford and nephew, Kevin Hutton.

He was married to Eva Ackiss McSweeney of Nashville, TN on January 15, 1982. In addition to his wife, Mr. McSweeney is survived by step-daughter, Carol (Michael) Dann of McMinnville, TN; sister, Sheila Anne Crawford of Northridge, CA; sister-in-law, Linda McSweeney; nieces and nephews, Janet Crawford (Charles) Simons, Cynthia Sue Crawford, Apryl Crawford Skyes, Steven Hutton, Edward Hutton, Robin Smith and Leonard Hutton; great-nieces and great-nephews, Patrick Timothy McSweeney Simons, Charles Allen Simons, Caitlin Simons Hawkins, Rebekah Romero and Katie Romero and eleven great-grand nieces and great-grand nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2025 in High’s Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in McMinnville, TN. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at High’s.

Full military honors will be administered by American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.
