Richard Clayton Codden, Jr.

Rock Island, TN resident and St. Paul, MN native Richard Clayton Codden, Jr., age 70, was born July 4, 1953 and died February 20, 2024 at his residence following an extended illness. A United States Air Force veteran of the Vietnam era, route salesman with Frito Lay for twenty-eight years and a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, he was the son of the late Richard Clayton and Pauline Lugaski Codden, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Richard Clayton Codden, III; brother, John Codden; son-in-law, David Flores and niece, Katherine Byrd. He married Christine Clark of Aurora, IL on January 8, 1977. In addition to his wife, Mr. Codden is survived by daughter, Michelle (David Spain) Codden of Shakopee, MN; daughter, Lynnette (Travis) Hess of Oklahoma City, OK; son, Donald Codden of Atlanta, Ga; grandchildren, Isaiah (Dilly) Codden, Angelo Sims, Allana Hess and Xavier Hess; siblings, Annette Byrd, Linda (John) Stilger, Kathy Cappiello, Edward Codden, George Codden, Bob (Kim) Codden and Michael Codden and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in McMinnville with Father Bala officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until time of service Saturday at the church. Visitation will be held beginning at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 29, 2024 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud, MN with a funeral mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Assumption Cemetery in St. Cloud, MN.
