Roy Van Pendleton

McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Roy Van Pendleton, 85, was born February 4, 1938 and passed from this life March 11, 2023 at Alive Hospice Care in Murfreesboro, TN.

Roy served in the Tennessee Army National Guard from 1956-1964. He received his training and was stationed in Ft. Stewart, GA. He was a retired groundskeeper for Mt. View Cemetery on North Spring and Mt. View Streets. Roy was a Christian man and the son of the late Charlie and Ella Pendleton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Minnie and Myrtle Pendleton, Estell (F.C.) Hillis, Clata (Jessie) Turner and Betty Sue King and four brothers, Charles, Thurman, Haskell and Ralph Pendleton.

He was survived by sister, Evelyn (Cecil) King; brother-in-law, Austin King; niece, Cindy Barnes; two nephews, Tim King and Mike Hillis and many other nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff at Dr. Timothy Fishers office, the staff at Vanderbilt Hospital Stroke unit, the staff at Vanderbilt Hospice Care, the staff at Alive Hospice Care in Murfreesboro and High Funeral Home.

Graveside service and interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Mt. View Cemetery in McMinnville with Tim King and Mike Hillis officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. No service or visitation will be held at High’s.

Full military honors will be administered by American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, TN.
