Shirley Pauline Alford McBride

July 11, 1941 — October 30, 2023

McMinnville resident and Marshall County, IL native Shirley Pauline Alford McBride, age 82, was born July 11, 1941 and died October 30, 2023 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville following a brief illness.           

A retired employee of Findlay, she was the daughter of the late Marvin Smith and Bertha Henegar Myers. She was married to Bobby McBride on March 12, 2005 who preceded her in death on December 14, 2020. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by grandson, Aaron Higgins; great-granddaughter, Caitlin Talley; great-grandson, Waylon Dennington; sisters, Darlene Ruth Smith and Betty Craggs and brothers, Bill Smith and George Smith.

Mrs. McBride is survived by five children, Sheila Duncan, Susie Finney and Suzette Alford, all of McMinnville, Stephanie Myers of Georgia and Wayne Alford of Spencer, TN; eight grandchildren, Tara Alford, Josh Alford (Bridgette), Ashley Love, Brittney Alford, Lindsey DeJohn, Casey Higgins (Anthony Nash), Mallory Cantrell and Rachael Dennington; seventeen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marian Crull (Harry) and Connie Smith, both of IL; two brothers, Bob Smith and Jim Smith, both of IL and several nieces and nephews. 

She enjoyed crocheting, reading, and going to the beach. She loved to watch Volunteers football and basketball games, the Tennessee Titans and the Atlanta Braves.

Graveside service and interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Warren County with Danny Young officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at High’s.
