Susie Sparkman

September 9, 1935 — January 14, 2024

Smartt Station, TN resident and Van Buren County, TN native Martha Susie Sparkman, age 88, was born September 9, 1935 and died January 14, 2024 at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Sparkman was retired from John Oster Manufacturing, a member of McMinnville First Freewill Baptist Church where she served as treasurer for many years and a graduate of McMinnville Central High School Class of 1953. She was the daughter of the late Versa Jane Roberts and Albert Clinton Powers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, lan Campbell-O’neill of Arizona; sister, Juanita (Dink) McBride of Rocky River; brother, Oscar “Bud” Powers of Rocky River; brother and sister-in-law, Albert C. “Jr.” and Winona Powers of McMinnville and brother-in-law, Gordon Mason of McMinnville. She was married on September 16, 1961 to Charles Leroy Sparkman of White County, TN. In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Michael Campbell and Barry Sparkman both of Arizona; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Cody Campbell-O'neill and Alayna Mazza of Arizona; great-granddaughter, Maeve Campbell-O'neill; sister, Bobbie Jo Mason of McMinnville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Carolyn Powers and Darius “Peanut” and Connie Powers both of the Rocky River community; special friend and shopping partner, Dot Hudson of White County and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 18, 2024 in High’s Chapel with Bro. Bill Eversole and Bro. Brett Cook officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and 9:00 a.m. until time of service Thursday at High’s. Susie's family would like to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude for all the love, support and care from Gentiva Hospice.
