Thorolf Greg Gregersen

September 9, 1945 — October 4, 2025

McMinnville, TN

Thorolf (Greg) Gregersen, son of Per and Esther Gregersen, was born September 9,1945, in Stavanger, Norway, and died October 4, 2025, in McMinnville, Tennessee. He was the beloved husband for 46 years of Ava Rhea (Jordan) Gregersen, father of Thorolf Christian Gregersen (Allyssa), and brother-in-law of Larry Grimes (Pat). He is also survived by several cousins in Norway and his many American friends.

After completing an accelerated high school course and graduating in one year, he studied engineering in Gotterberg, Sweden, and later came to the United States to study aviation which became a big part of his life. He always wanted to be in the air.

During his career, Greg was a corporate pilot for Bob Noyce, the founder of Intel. This association took him on many adventures including puffin rescue. He also ran a fixed base operation at the Wiscasset Airport in Wiscasset, Maine, and obtained all the air licenses he could get for single engine and twin engine planes.

In addition, he was the chief pilot and instructor for the Norway Flying School at Warren County Municipal Airport. Greg was also an entrepreneur. He started two business: one exporting antique cars to Norway and the other trucking nursery stock from McMinnville to the Northern states.

He and Ava spent many happy hours on their houseboat “Unezee” with friends on Center Hill Lake where he received the nickname “Mr. Norway.” The Viking in him had to be near the water. His last residence was on the Barren Fork River. Known for his sense of humor, Greg’s Norwegian stories kept his friends entertained.

A celebration of life will be held on October 18 at the Warren County Municipal Airport from 2 to 4 in the afternoon.
