Virginia Mae Glimps was born on June 21, 1936 in McMinnville, TN. She was the oldest child of three siblings. At the age of 5 Virginia moved to Inkster, Michigan and graduated from Inkster High School in 1955. She pursued her career as a Nursing Attendant at the Northville Mental Hospital in Northville Michigan.
Ms. Jennie Mae retired from the State of Michigan in 1994, where she worked for over 32 years. Moving back to McMinnville TN in 1995 Ms. Jennie May was a member of East End Drive Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Verlon Stokes Sr. and Virginia Stokes and she was married to Thomas Edward Glimps, Sr., who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by son, Anthony Glimps, grandson, Anthony Glimps, Jr. and brother, Verlon Stokes, Jr.
Ms. Jennie Mae is survived by children, Thomas Glimps, Jr., Pamela Mitchell and Keith Glimps; grandchildren, Damien Glimps, Kesha Glimps and Anitra Glimps; great-grandchildren, Taron Green, Dezmien Glimps, Brooklyn Glimps and Ka-Mya Glimps; sister, Ophelia Goner; sisters-in-law, Sue Alexander, Judy (Ricky) Cope and Faye Glimps; brother-in-law, Charlie (Blanche) Glimps; several nieces and nephews; special nephews, Verlon Stokes, III and Verdell Stokes; best friends, Dorcus Baxter and Mary Whitaker; Robert Watts, who was like a son to Ms. Jennie Mae and her Precious dog Speedy, Who she nicknamed “Poo Poo”.
Graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Warren County, TN. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at High Funeral Home. There will be no visitation at High’s on Saturday. Friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery.
Granddaughter - Mema, I love you. You always loved and cared for me. I loved our conversations and your cakes. I hate to see you go but you will forever be in my heart. Love you forever and always.
Daughter – Every time I smile, every time I sigh, I think of your face, and a tear escapes my eye. You were my world, my inspiration and my heart.
