McMinnville resident and Warren County native Wayne “Dustin” Storm Barkes, age 33, was born March 23, 1992, and died July 8, 2025.
An avid outdoorsman, Dustin enjoyed woodworking, hunting arrowheads, sketching and being on the mountain. Dustin was a member of Victory Freewill Baptist Church and was the son of Debra Northcutt Barkes of McMinnville and the late Jewell Wayne Barkes. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Speed and Dessie Barkes and maternal grandmother, Tenia Ma Northcutt.
In addition to his mother he is survived by sisters, April (Bill) Barnes of Spencer, LaKeisha (Cory) Tobitt of Morrison, LaShay Johnson of McMinnville and Summer (Briar) Ward of McMinnville; nieces and nephews, Jaylyn and Zach Blaylock, Carly and Mallory Tobitt, Emery and Thatcher Johnson and Harper Ward; great-niece and great-nephew, Evrett and Wrenley Blaylock; godson, Bruce Wayne Thompson; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
Graveside service and interment will be 5:00 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2025, at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Warren County with Kenneth Kirby and Phillip Luna officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at High’s.
