William Lee Witt

McMinnville resident and Davidson County, TN native William Lee Witt, age 68, was born January 2, 1954 and died May 20, 2022 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, TN following an extended illness. An over the road truck driver with FedEx and member of the Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Robert F. and Barbara Bryant Witt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Robert B. Witt and sister, Ann Elizabeth Hammer. Mr. Witt was married March 2, 1974 to Patricia Mitchell Witt of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Ashley Lea Witt and Amanda Evelyn Witt both of McMinnville; granddaughter, Evelyn Jane Jiang Witt of McMinnville; sister, Amy Witt Smith of Texas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, MSGT Phillip Mitchell, USMC Retired & Vickie Mitchell of McMinnville; sisters-in-law, Pam Lynn of Brentwood, TN and Patti Witt of California; brother-in-law, Tim Hammer of Oregon and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2022 in High's Chapel with David Hale officiating. Burial will follow in the Gath Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday and 10:00 a.m. until time of service Friday at High's. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday in High's Parlor by Sam Davis Lodge #661 Free & Accepted Masons, Smyrna, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Methodist Transplant Institute, 1211 Union Ave., Suite 340, Memphis, TN 38104. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
