Wilma Louise Payne

McMinnville resident and Roane County, TN native Wilma Louise Payne, age 84, was born April 2, 1939 and died July 29, 2023 at her residence following an extended illness. A former employee of Findlay Industries and member of Grange Hall Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Auburn and Stella Robinette. She was married to Silas Johnson and Ben Payne, both who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Clarence, Elmer, Ray, Sam, Bill and Don; three sisters, Mildred Sparks, Enloe Smoot and Grace Brown; daughter, Freda Johnson Guy and grandson, Tommy Hodges. Mrs. Payne is survived by son, Blake Johnson of McMinnville; great-grandson that she raised, Joshua Lee Hodges; granddaughter, Sethly Cole Hodges (Peter McChesney) of Walling, TN; grandson, Josh Hodges and great-grandchildren, Samantha, Dominic, Jaiden, Jackson, Addison and Piper. Graveside service and interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Crain Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN with Randall Gann officiating.
